The current idea is to stay on Kauai first, renting a cottage by the beach for close to a week. We know there isn't as much to do on Kauai, but that's sort of what we're looking for on our first week after the wedding. Lots of sitting on the beach and swimming. Reading books. Going on small hikes, stuff like that. Maybe some kayaking or inner-tubing on a river.
We do want to see some volcanic stuff and do some snorkeling (I think I'm going to invest in an underwater camera case, too), and at least the former isn't available on Kauai, so we're thinking of spending the next few days on another island. Perhaps Maui.
We're going on the off-season (late August, early Sept.), so we should do pretty well with lodging even on Maui. If there's anything on one of those islands that we shouldn't miss, or if we should go to say Oahu or the Big Island to get our lava on, I'd love some tips.
Also, the weather has been nice, and the flowers in the back yard know it.
This weekend, we need to do a bit of work in the garden. Specifically, the forsithya bush needs a substantial trim, we need to turn over some dirt, and there's always more weeding to do. Besides that, maybe we'll see a movie?
